Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine
Division Head: Jeffrey D. Hasday, MD
The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is focused on cutting-edge research into the causes and treatments of diseases of the airway and lungs such as asthma and COPD.
That research is implemented at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), giving hope and often improved outcomes to critically ill patients, such as those in the Lung Transplant Program.
In addition, our division houses the Mucosal Biology Research Center, a state-of-the-art research effort that brings together basic and clinical investigators in pulmonary and gastrointestinal diseases. We also oversee a Sleep Disorders Center, which offers treatment for a variety of sleep problems, including narcolepsy and sleep apnea.
