A graduate of Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD with a major in business and finance, and a minor in economics, Carrie began her career at the University of Maryland in 1996 in Provider Relations for the Medical Center. In her 10 year career at UMMC, Carrie served as the Practice Manager of the Evelyn Jordan Center and Program Manager of the AIDS Education and Training Center. In 2007, she joined the Department of Medicine as Clinical Manager and then Program Administrator in the Division of Infectious Diseases. Carrie later added Administrator for Clinical Services in the Department of Medicine to her responsibilities -- playing an integral role in the transition of our key clinical programs to Midtown. She has provided significant financial and clinical expansion contributions within our Infectious Diseases Division and in the Institute of Human Virology. Carrie has excelled over the years and has been recognized by the Department of Medicine and other Institutions for her outstanding service and leadership.

Kim has been employed at the University since 1987, working for Surgery and Radiation Oncology before moving to the Department of Medicine in 1993. She started in Medicine working for the Fellowship Director in Cardiovascular Medicine. In 1994 she was recruited to Project Assistant for Operations and was promoted to Operations Manager in 1996 and has held the position of Facility Project Specialist since 2013. Her responsibilities include managing space, relocation and construction projects for the department.

Robyn originally started with the Department of Medicine in 1989 as an administrative assistant for the Operations Division and transferred to the Academic Programs office in 1990. In 2013 she was promoted to Director of Academic Programs. The Academic Programs office is responsible for the recruitment, academic appointment, medical staff credentialing and promotions of all faculty in the Department of Medicine and also maintains the department's malpractice inventory. This office also handles the postdoctoral fellow process through the School of Medicine and serves as a liaison between the University of Maryland Medical Center and the clinical fellowship programs within Medicine.

Ms. Eddington Johnson is the first administrator of the Institute for Global Health (est. 2015), whose primary mission is to improve global health by conducting innovative, world-leading research in Baltimore and overseas which results in new and improved means of diagnosing, preventing, treating, controlling, eliminating and eradicating diseases of global impact. I earned a masters in biochemistry from University of Delaware and a masters in public health from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Ms. Gauger started working for the Department of Medicine in December 2003, while in college, as a Medical Records Clerk in the Faculty Physicians Office. She earned an Electrical Engineering degree in 2007 and my career path went the engineering route. In April of 2012, I made my way back to the Department of Medicine, as a Budget Analyst. I generate all the reports related to the clinical operations of the department as well as help develop the fiscal year clinical budgets for all divisions in the Department of Medicine.

Mr. Heiger came to the Department of Medicine as a Network Technician in 1992 to facilitate Medicine’s transition toward a centralized Local Area Network (LAN) and provide computer support to faculty and staff. Mr. Heiger was promoted to Manager of Information Systems in 1994 and then to Director in 2001 and continues in that position today.  Hisstaff consists of 5 employees which provide IT support and services to 1400 faculty and staff in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health.

Karen Hornick has been with our Department since 1992. She is a graduate of Towson University with a major in Accounting and minor in Mathematics, and has held an active CPA license for 25 years. Karen has managed the accounting operations, implemented software systems, and managed the departmental database. Karen also has responsibility for the departmental all funds budget and projections, analysis of financial and clinical reports, reconciliation and management of hospital financial commitments (UMMC, Midtown, and VA), grant reporting, financial analysis of new commitments, and providing assistance to divisional administration. Karen is currently completing coursework to obtain MHA/MBA degrees.

Stacy Little joined the Department of Medicine in 2008 and assisted with the opening of the Carroll County Cardiology practice office at that time. As Director of Practice Operations, she manages multiple outpatient Cardiology sites throughout Maryland.

Patricia McGuire first came to UMB in 1987 and worked for the Department of Medicine in the Finance Office until 1989. She returned to UMB in 1996 and worked in the Medicine Billing Office, moving from data analyst to associate director. She became the Division Administrator for General Internal Medicine in 2014.

Mr. Seifert joined the University of Maryland in May 2006. He was previously the Corporate Procurement Manager at Legg Mason, where he worked for ten years. Mr. Seifert is also an Adjunct Professor of Economics at Harford Community College. He is married with two children.

Ms. Williams is the executive administrative assistant and focal point of the Division of Occupational Medicine and Environmental Health. Before joining the program in 2000, she worked in health care for 10 years. Her wide variety of skills comes from working in such environments as mental health, family preservation, and shelters for women, and administration. She provides executive assistance to the division faculty and staff while also serving the programs' patients, clients and students. Ms. Williams received her A.A. Degree from Baltimore City Community College and is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management from the University of Maryland University College.
