Palliative Medicine Physicians (Positions 3-309-806 & 860)

The University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking one full time and one part-time (50%) palliative medicine physician for our expanding clinical program. Duties will include both inpatient activities as well as development of an outpatient program. Opportunities for teaching are available. Successful candidates will be board certified/eligible in Palliative Medicine, with a strong interest in teaching and clinical experience in Palliative Medicine. Additionally, the full time position will have the added responsibilities as serving as the Medical Director of this service.  Applicants for both positions must be eligible for an independent Maryland medical license.

The Palliative Medicine Program at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is ten years old and is currently staffed by dedicated physicians, RNs, NPs and a Clinical Pharmacist. Practitioners serve as expert palliative consultants to the UMMC’s multi-disciplinary service teams, adding care quality and cost saving value. Please see our websites for additional information:

Hospitalist Physicians (Positions 3-309-913, 915, 916, 917, & 918)

The Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting full time hospitalists.  These positions will provide inpatient attending coverage on our new short stay Observation unit, as well as staff our inpatient hospitalist teams including coverage of, but not limited to, general internal medicine patients on our nonteaching service, transplant medicine patients, medical consultations for general medicine and transplant medicine, and co-management of surgical services.  Please indicate in your response if you have a special interest in transplant medicine.  Candidates must be board certified/eligible in internal medicine and eligible for an independent Maryland medical license.  These positions require a medical degree from a recognized accredited domestic university (or foreign equivalent), as well as a strong commitment to patient care and teaching, and the ability to work well in a team setting.

Clinician Educator/Internist (Position 3-309-931)

The Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting a full time internist.   Clinical responsibilities include participation in our faculty group practice with ten other internists, medical student teaching, and supervision of residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings.  This position will also provide inpatient attending on our general medical service.  Research opportunities pathways also available for qualified candidates.  Candidates must be board certified/eligible in internal medicine and eligible for an independent Maryland medical license.  This position requires a medical degree from a recognized accredited domestic university (or foreign equivalent), a strong commitment to patient care and teaching, and the ability to work well in a team setting.

Academic Hospitalist (3-309-942)

The General Internal Medicine Division in the Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine has an opening for an academic hospitalist at the University of Maryland Medical Center-Midtown Campus.  This service provides 24/7 coverage for inpatient medicine floors at our affiliated hospital located in downtown Baltimore.  The bulk of the service will be in a teaching capacity with UMMC Midtown Campus house-staff, as well as non-teaching responsibilities with attending responsibilities on the Post-Acute Unit, Orthopedic pre-op evaluation, consultation on the inpatient Psychiatry Unit, and non-designated service patients. 

Candidates must be board certified/eligible in internal medicine and eligible for an unrestricted license in the State of Maryland.  Ideal candidates will possess outstanding clinical and teaching skills and a strong commitment to patient care.  Expected faculty rank is Assistant Professor or higher, however, rank, tenure status and salary will be dependent upon selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.  We offer excellent an salary and benefits package.
