Medical Director-Palliative Medicine (Position 3-309-860)

The University of Maryland School of Medicine is seeking a full time palliative medicine physician to serve as Medical Director for our expanding clinical program. Duties will include both inpatient activities as well as development of an outpatient program. Opportunities for teaching are available. Successful candidates will be board certified/eligible in Palliative Medicine, with a strong interest in teaching and clinical experience in Palliative Medicine.

The Palliative Medicine Program at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is ten years old and is comprise of a team of MDs, RNs, NPs and a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist. The practitioners serve as expert palliative consultants to the UMMC’s multi-disciplinary service teams, adding care quality and cost saving value.   • Supported by: Cancer Center Medical Director and Vice President; physician directors of our Medical and Surgical ICUs; Shock Trauma Center Director; Hospital Chief Medical Officer and Nursing leadership; Chairs of Internal and Family Medicine.

  • Research: Strong foundation and support exists for grant funding to further interdisciplinary Palliative Medicine research.

Part-Time/Per Diem Nocturnist-Hospitalists

The Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting part-time nocturnist-hospitalists. These positions will provide inpatient overnight attending coverage for our transplant medicine service and our non-teaching general medicine service.  Responsibilities include coverage of, but not limited to, our non-teaching general medicine service, transplant medicine service, medical consultation service, and co-management of surgical services. Please indicate in your response if you have a special interest in transplant medicine. 

Current hospitalists performing this role are generalists and do not need specific training or experience in transplant medicine.  Candidates must be board certified/eligible in internal medicine and eligible for an unrestricted license in the State of Maryland. These positions require a medical degree from a recognized accredited domestic university (or foreign equivalent), a strong commitment to patient care and teaching, and the ability to work well in a team setting.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. We offer a competitive rate.

Nocturnist (Position number 03-309-966)

The Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for a full time nocturnist.  This position will provide inpatient attending coverage on our new short stay Obeservation unit as well as staff our inpatient hospitalist teams including coverage of, but not limited to, general internal medicine patients on our non-teaching service, transplant medicine patients, medical consultations for general medicine and transplant medicine, and co-mangement of surgical services.  Please indicate in your respone if you have a special interest in transplant medicine. 

Candidates must be board certified/board eligible in Internal Medicine and eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Maryland.  This position requires a medical degree from a recognized acrredited domestic university or foreign equilvaent, a strong committment to patient care and teaching and the ability to work well in a team setting.  Expected faculty rank is Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.

Academic Hospitalist (Position number 03-309-971)

The Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine has an opening for an academic hospitalist at the University of Maryland Medical Center-Midtown Campus beginning early November, 2018.  This service provides 24/7 coverage for inpatient medicine floors at our affiliated hospital located in downtown Baltimore.  The bulk of the service will be in a teaching capacity with UMMC Midtown Campus house-staff, as well as non-teaching attending responsibilities on the Post-Acute Unit, Orthopedic pre-op evaluation, consultation on the inpatient Psychiatry Unit, and non-designated service patients.

Candidates must be board certified/board eligible in Internal Medicine and eligible for an unrestricted medical license in the State of Maryland.  Ideal candidates will possess outstanding clinical and teaching skills and a strong committment to patient care.  Expected faculty rank is Assistant Professor or higher, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.  We offer an excellent salary and benefits package.  When applying, please submit a cover letter, CV and names of three references.
