Director of Cardiovascular Research (Position 3-309-924)

The Cardiovascular Medicine Division of the Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for a senior physician-scientist.  Expected faculty rank for this position is Associate Professor or higher, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Successful applicants will be accomplished investigators in translational or basic science with a focus on laboratory based research in the areas of heart failure/transplant, pulmonary hypertension, imaging, genomics, vascular biology, complex dysrhythmias or regenerative medicine and will serve as our Director of Cardiovascular Research.  The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the research, teaching and/or clinical missions of the University, will sustain an externally funded individual research program consistent with the Department and School of Medicine's vision, assist in the recruitment of funded investigators, and enhance cardiology research opportunities for the division.  Ample time will be protected for research.
