The Class of 2018 received their doctoral hoods in a special graduation ceremony at the Hippodrome Theater on May 17. Hundreds of family, friends, and faculty were there to cheer on the 146 graduates as they officially transitioned from students to doctors.
The air was filled with history, excitement and anticipation on a warm spring evening as more than 1,000 business and community leaders, donors, faculty staff, students and other distinguished guests gathered for the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Annual Gala in Baltimore. This year’s event celebrated the School of Medicine's 210th anniversary, and it coincided with the Medical Alumni Association’s Reunion Weekend.
On Saturday May 7, 2016, the University of Maryland School of Medicine hosted its annual gala, with 1,000 alumni, donors, faculty, staff, students, and other special friends of the school in attendance. As in recent years, the gala coincided with the Medical Alumni Association’s Reunion Weekend, and nearly 125 alumni attended the black-tie affair, as well.
"Designers of Innovation and Discovery" was the theme of the 2014 University of Maryland School of Medicine Gala, held May 3 at the Baltimore Convention Center. This year’s gala recognized the collaborative achievements of the School of Medicine academic community – efforts that have propelled innovations and discoveries that have saved lives and improved the quality of life for people throughout the state, the region and the world.
Transforming Medicine Beyond Imagination was the theme of the 2013 University of Maryland School of Medicine Gala, held May 11 at the Baltimore Convention Center. It is also the name of the largest capital campaign in School of Medicine's history, which was publically launched at the gala.

Building Beyond Tomorrow was the theme of the 2012 Fund for Medicine Gala, held Saturday, March 3 at the Hilton Baltimore. "The School of Medicine conducts groundbreaking biomedical research, provides an innovative medical education, and delivers advanced care, making a difference in the lives of those we train, those we treat, and many others around the world, today and for generations to come," said E. Albert Reece, MD, PhD, MBA, Dean of the School of Medicine.
Horizons of Discovery was the theme of this year’s Fund for Medicine Gala, held March 12, 2011 at the Hilton Baltimore Hotel. “The School of Medicine has become a national leader in the creation of multidisciplinary, specialized research entities that are housed within its departments, programs, centers, and institutes,” said E. Albert Reece, MD, PhD, MBA, Vice President for Medical Affairs, University of Maryland, and the John Z. and Akiko K. Bowers Distinguished Professor and Dean of the School of Medicine.
