Research Interests and Recent Publications
Autumn Raimondi is a Research Specialist for the department of Shock Trauma Anesthesiology Research (STAR). Ms. Raimondi performs craniotomy surgeries, fluid percussion head injury and controlled cortical impact injury on mice. The specific research focus is to examine the cellular level factors involved in traumatic brain injury and their potential treatments. She also performs behavioral testing on mice and rats pre- and post-injury to assess the somatic effects of the injury. She participates in brain retrieval at experimental end points and cell culture experiments.
Ethan Glaser is a Research Specialist for the department of Shock Trauma Anesthesiology Research (STAR). Mr. Glaser performs isolation and culture of rat embryonic cortical neurons. He treats these cells with therapeutic agents to determine their neuroprotective or apoptotic effects. He performs western blotting and cell viability assays to determine the health of the cells after treatment. His specific research focus is to determine the level of expression of proteins involved in neuronal death after traumatic brain injury and potential therapeutic agents which can reduce the loss of neuronal function. He also aids in tissue collection and stereological assessment of the severity of an injury after in vivo experiments.
Jingwen Yu is a technician for the department of Shock Trauma Anesthesiology Research (STAR). Her work is about demonstrating the function and the mechanisms of autophagy-lysosomal pathway and specific microRNAs in neuronal injury after SCI which could open a potential novel treatment avenue against SCI as well as identify candidate molecular targets for these manipulations.
