Biotechnology Research Track - Overview
The Biotechnologist is a member of a multidisciplinary team of researchers involved in the discovery, development, and production of chemicals, diagnostic products and pharmaceuticals. As a student in biotechnology, your curriculum will represent the cutting edge of basic techniques in molecular biology, protein chemistry and immunology. You will be exposed to and gain skills in areas which industry and academia have agreed upon as the standard of practice for this exciting and emerging science. As a graduate from the Department of Medical and Research Technology, the biotechnology professional will find a host of new career and business opportunities in the Greater Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan Area. The state of Maryland is one of five major areas for biotechnology in the nation. Biotechnologists are employed in pharmaceutical industries, government, academic research laboratories and biomedical laboratories.
