Housing

The School of Medicine Office of Admissions puts together information regarding housing on and around the campus and along the Baltimore/Washington corridor. Information includes a listing of rooms, apartments and houses available for rental/sublet. Admissions also coordinates roommate matches, etc. Often, current medical students will be more likely to leave information in this office with the knowledge that other current and incoming medical students will be looking for housing through Admissions. You may call the Office of Admissions at. 410-706-7478. Campus-wide resources are also available to assist you and are listed below.

There are two apartment communities on campus: Pascault Row Apartments and University Suites at Fayette Square.

The campus Residence Life Office offers accommodations during the summer in the Pascault Row Apartments. Dates of availability are usually May 31 through the last week in July. A "Summer Housing Packet" is forwarded to interested students. It provides information on deposits, costs, hours you may contact the office, etc. Also, applications for campus housing during the regular academic year are accepted in early spring/summer beginning in mid-February. Housing will be available at Pascault Row. For more information contact the Residence Life Office at 410-706-7766 or visit the website at www.housing.umaryland.edu.

University Suites at Fayette Square - This apartment community is located on campus and is privately managed by Capstone Properties Corp. For details, visit the website at www.fayettesquare.com or contact the management office by telephone at 1-866-349-8682.

The Residence Life Office also provides students with other housing information and assistance. For more information, see the "Other Housing Options" section of the Residence Life website.

The Office of Student Life offers off-campus housing assistance in the form of a self-help catalog service. Students, local realtors and homeowners list available townhouses, apartment buildings and apartments in houses near the campus. Roommate referrals, maps and other information are updated every two weeks. Students interested in obtaining roommates are asked to complete a Roommate With Property Form and The Roommate Referral Form. The former is designed for the individual "who has accommodations but is looking for a roommate to share expenses." The latter is designed for the individual "without accommodations who is seeking a roommate with whom to find housing." A member of the Student Life staff is available for assistance.

Housing Resources

The campus newspaper, the VOICE, lists apartment/house rentals and sales, roommates wanted, sublets and sharing opportunities. If you want to place an ad, call at 410-706-7820.

The Baltimore Sun Sunday edition has an extensive listing of available houses and apartments in Baltimore City and Baltimore, Howard and Anne Arundel Counties. Also listed are sharing and sublets and real estate sales.

Apartment Shoppers' Guide is another source. Found in most supermarkets and convenience stores, the publication is available free of charge and lists apartments for rent. Additional housing information can be found on bulletin boards located in the Bressler Research Building, Residence Life Office, outside the University Hospital cafeteria, and in other common areas frequented by UMB students, staff and faculty.
