Education and Training

I am a graduate of Harvard College, Class of 1957 (AB); Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons (MD 1961); internship at Strong Memorial/Rochester Municipal Hospitals (1962); Residency at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital/New York State Psychiatric Institute (1965) and the Columbia University Psychoanalytic Center (1971).

Biosketch

 John A. Talbott, M.D., Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Founding Director of the Professionalism Project, University of Maryland School of Medicine, is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease, Editor-Emeritus of Psychiatric Services, past president of the American Association of Chairmen of Departments of Psychiatry, past president of the American Psychiatric Association (1984-85) and former vice president of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.  He has published twenty books and two hundred articles about mental health services, public policy and the chronic mentally ill.
